Getting our Hands Dirty at the Ottawa Food Bank Farm
In late July we headed to the Ottawa Food Bank Farm in Stittsville to get our hands dirty and help out! Did you know, this year the Food Bank will harvest 100,000 lbs of fresh fruit and vegetables as part of their Community Harvest Program? Incredible! Throughout the growing season at their 5-acre farm, thousands of volunteers help with everything from planting to weeding to harvesting the produce. Our Iceberg team was out for a few hours on a Saturday morning hand-weeding the watermelon & squash patches in advance of the harvest to come! The food from the farm helps support nearly 40,000 people in Ottawa who use the food bank each month. Thanks to everyone who joined us to help make a difference in our community!
