At our 2014 KickOff meeting, the Iceberg team took part in assembling 100 hygiene product bags that were then donated to the Ottawa Food Bank. Each package included essential hygiene products such as: shampoo, body wash, nail clipers, deodorant, first aid kit, toothbrush, toothpaste, Kleenex pocket packs, floss, Chapstick, Tums, etc., and were distributed to at-risk youth through Ottawa’s Operation Come Home program.
Michael Maidment, the Executive Director of Ottawa Food Bank, came to Iceberg and shared a heart touching story of a little boy who was hiding his lunch behind the table at school, because his mother could only afford to provide him three timbits for lunch. People sometimes overlook a different group of people in need – those with an insufficient budget that forces them to have to make difficult, painful choices between food, electricity, clothing and/or shelter, and the emotional pain they suffer. Michael emphasized that Ottawa Food Bank appreciates not only food donations; but also, other desperately needed items, like our hygiene product bags.
We encourage you to make a difference in others people’s lives. Iceberg would like to thank our valued customers, who have provided us this opportunity to re-invest in the community with their support of our products and services. We also encourage others to research giving back to the community. Please contact us or contact the Ottawa Food Bank if you want to contribute and make a difference.
