Helping families and children during the holidays

Kanata Food CupboardIceberg is driven by a passion to make a difference in other people’s lives, whether we are working with customers, with colleagues or in the community. It’s become a tradition for us around the holidays to find a way to give back and help under-privileged people in our community. In years past we’ve helped local groups including the Ottawa Food Bank, Operation Come Home, and the Ottawa Mission.

This year our focus is on helping families and children in need. We’re encouraging our team members to support fundraising efforts for the Kanata Food Cupboard and Operation Christmas Child.

Did you know:

  • Last year, 840,000 Canadians required assistance from a food bank.
  • In Kanata last year, 390 families requested help at Christmas alone.

The money that Iceberg raises will support families and children with gift hampers that include food, clothing and presents for local families, and school supplies and hygiene items for international children.  It’s just a small way that we can positively impact the lives of those less fortunate in our community.

We’ll provide updates about our fundraising efforts on this blog over the coming weeks.

Ken.
