Last month at our company kick-off meeting, our team set up an assembly line and put together one hundred hygiene kits to be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank and the Youth Services Bureau (YSB). The kits included things like toothpaste, razors, soap and deodorant, as well as warm socks, gloves and toques.
Activities like this one are so important to all of us at Iceberg. As a group, we take pride in helping to make a difference and we encourage everyone on our team to make a difference in our community. Our team delivered the kits last Friday and received this note back from the YSB’s executive director Patti Murphy:
“Young lives are changed for the better when they have the right resources available to them in the most trying of times. For the thousands of young people that will depend on the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) this month, that time is now. Thankfully, there are caring people like you, and your amazing Iceberg Networks colleagues, who want to propel at-risk youth forward towards better tomorrows…
These gift packs are being distributed to youth we serve at both our Drop-In Centre downtown as well as at our Young Men’s Emergency Shelter. With the support from you and your colleagues, YSB is able to help thousands of young people each month, throughout Ottawa, who are struggling to overcome challenges. YSB offers programs and services in the areas of youth mental health, housing and homelessness, employment, and justice, but we simply wouldn’t be able to have such positive and profound impacts in our community without the support of caring organizations and individuals like you – thank you. We’re thankful that you chose to support YSB because you’re changing young lives both today, and tomorrow.”
